Door - Alcantara, Tales of Wonder
A project designed for Door – La Repubblica magazine, during Milano Design Week. Three portals, fashioned from Alcantara fabric, were installed in three iconic locations in the center of Milan.
The creative impetus behind this project is rooted in quilting, a craft that involves stitching together different pieces of fabric to create artifacts imbued with representational meaning, functioning either as protective amulets or conduits for storytelling. Another wellspring of inspiration has been the decorative symbols that have long adorned the walls and doors of homes, serving as talismans against evil. In Tales of Wonder, theinfluences are reimagined and reinterpreted through a contemporary language that echoes tattoo art and street culture, not to mention apotropaic symbolism, which conveys messages and meanings through the representation of animal figures.
